Default A Note To Farmers

My fellow farmers, now that factions is upon us I know many of you will soon be seeking out those elusive hot spots for loot throughout the game. and many of us will be testing builds and methods to get the goodies from these spots. The thrill of the build and the find are what matters to us and by god this new chapter offers untold riches for us to get our hands on. Let us learn from the mistakes of the past as we venture into this new chapter in Guild Wars.

I'd like to really address one mistake that sort of catches all the mistakes up in one group. Let's try to keep our mouths shut this time. If you find the next awesome, solo super assassin or ritualist build keep it to yourself. If you find a spot where rare items and runes fall form the heavens like rain do not post it on this forum or any other forum for that matter. We've seen broad nerfs across the board because people just have to share. Knock it off already. A sense of community is one thing but cutting our own throats is another entirely.

Remember the goal of the game is to have fun but there is no reason you can't make some loot while you do it. Just remember if you want to keep making the loot then the last thing you need to do is tell about your new farming spot or your new awesome solo build. I hope this has instilled you all with the appropriate amount of caution.

No offense: a thoroughly unecessary post IMO. Anet doesn't need to check Guru to find out what the latest hotspot is. Trust me. Furthermore, there have been dozens, upon dozens of identical posts like yours. + perf drops have been buffed accross the board...list goes on...

Indeed. Truer words were never uttered. My lips are sealed forever and I will never divulge the location or build to anyone. A secret shared is no longer a secret.

I don't like prissy people who won't share, when in return you better not ask ask us for our builds.

I'm going to say whatever the hell I want. If I want to tell someone about a spot I found, so be it.

I see no reason why things can't be made public for the greater good, besides, the nerfing of one area simply forces players to explore into another. If I've found something that I think can help other people, I see no reason to not share and help people.

I neither want, nor need other people's builds. My builds are my builds you keep your "overly used", yeah that's a nice way of saying it, builds away from mine. I don't want my builds getting any diseases.( and this is meant as a joke lest anyone take me seriously)

And yes Anet can track high traffic areas. The thing is a good farming spot does not become a high traffic area until someone shoots their mouth off and everyone and their mom starts hitting it.

the funny part is that most of the game's "farmers" are people who blindly follow the builds and strategies posted on these forums...

agreed but there are those of us, like monty and myself and I'm sure many others, that find new spots, figure out the best build for that spot and then shut the hell up about it. There will always be people who hit the forums and take their cues from there but there are always originators.

I usually dont say anything anyways...but thousands upon thousands of people will find every "hot spot" within a few weeks..and they'll tell a friend..and that friend tells a friend...and it goes on and on. There is no such thing as a "secret farming spot"...they dont exist..its a fairly small map, there is thousands and thousands of farmers, and the game has become a farming and selling market.

As I said, I rarely (if ever) tell people about where I farm..why?...because they probably already know about it already. I know that all of the "elusive super secret areas" that nobody knows about except for you is most definitely not "elusive" and "super secret".

Have fun in the little "fantasy world" of hidden and "untouched lands" while it lasts..I give it a few weeks to a month before it fails to become the above mentioned type of area.

QTF. But someone has to come up with the builds and strategies that others follow. There are those that lead, and those that follow (and those that just get in the way).

I'd straight up give you 500K if you find my new rune farming spot that I can solo with a trap ranger. It's still in Tyria. Yes there are secret spots that no one knows about because pretty much everyone stops looking once the well known spots are nerfed. You give people too much credit. 90% of the population in this game doesn't have the gumption to go out and find anything on their own.

So you honestly think that less than 10% of the entire GW population is clueless as to the whereabouts of your uber rune farming location? I agree to an extent on the second half of your paragraph. There are a lot people that play follow the leader with builds and spots.

I would like to add that I farm plenty and am not saying that I talk about my areas or will in the future..just putting some common knowledge type facts out there to try to bring this self proclaimed elite farming area mentality back down to reality. No offense meant by this at.

Ultimately if you have 1g or 1million gp in GW it doesn't add up to one iota of real world worth (unless you're an ebayer in which case you're being very naughty!) - so hording to yourself is being selfish for no real reason. It's just virtual.

Share'n'Enjoy, now that's real You get to have some fun and you help others have fun and enjoy it too. If it gets nerfed, so what? Always something else to look for/do
